Trueman Macdonald Connected

‘Connected’ was the series I completed for the 2014 Whyte Avenue Art Walk in Edmonton AB. I was looking to do something different as earlier in the year I had just completed Lisa’s Orchids. Sitting out in my backyard one day I had my moment of inspiration and all I had to do was to look up. The connected series started out as 4 paintings of the power lines that run along my back alley. Later that year Art Trends Gallery approached me and requested that I continue the series. I didn’t need to go far for my subjects; I just needed to venture through my own neighborhood. I thought naming the series ‘connected’ was appropriate as power lines provide us with so much that we depend on, not only the power to light our homes but also powering the components to connect us to the world around us.
